Welcome to Our Mini Stable!

Bitty Speaks"Hi!  My name is Bitty, and I’d like to introduce myself and my best friend, Itty.  We live on a farm with lots of other friends, most of whom are all bigger than we are!"

A Day On the Farm with Itty and Bitty

image

With the 2008 Bejing Olympics in full swing, Itty and Bitty did their part for international relations by inviting a group of children visiting from the Ukraine to Steele Away Farm. The children were in the Dallas area for 4 weeks under the sponsorship of Family Hope International, an organization which brings foreign orphans to the United States to live with American families.

Itty and Bitty decided that these kids needed a “day on the farm” to get a true taste of Texas, and a big helping of Texas hospitality. With their owner, Johnnie Martin-Carey, and many other friends, they organized a hay ride, a reading of their second book, Friends on the Farm, by author Nancy Czerw, and pony rides (but not on Itty and Bitty!). There were hot dogs, cotton candy, cake and ice cream for all. Water pistols, cowboy hats, and bandanas livened up the outing!

Special thanks to all who helped make this day so special—Johnnie, the farm hostess and her sidekick, Jayne Beth; Bettye, welcome committee; Brian, hot dog chef extraordinaire; Elvira, supreme translator; Bobby, golf cart shuttle driver; Shannon, Caroline, and Lauren, our pony wranglers from Silent Knight Farm; Claire Rock, chief photographer; Ellen, buffet manager, Sheryl, cotton candy Queen, and Sasha, Splash, Troy, Scrabble, and What Knot, who provided antics and photo ops for everyone in sight. A good time was had by all!

Hot to Trot Off the Press -- Itty and Bitty are Back!

Itty and Bitty, stars of Itty & Bitty: Two Miniature Horses and Itty & Bitty: Friends on the Farm are proud to announce the third book of their series, Itty & Bitty: On the Road.

In their newest adventure, our two mini equines venture beyond their home in Texas, and head East. Destination -- the famous Devon Horse Show in Pennsylvania. The plane ride East, a detour to the Bronx Zoo, and the journey home by cruise ship are full of zany rhymes and laughs. Rose Mary Berlin captures all the fun in her delightful illustrations.

Mini Measures

A new poem from Nancy - inspired by this picture!

Mini Measures

* Mini-footnote--horses are measured in "hands" from their withers to the ground; a "hand" is four inches. Minis are so small that they are often measured in inches. Bitty is about 32 inches tall from the last hair of his mane to the ground, while Itty is about 37 inches tall.

Itty and Bitty Go to School
